ServicesSudden Damage Repair
Sudden Roof Damage Repair in Hawaiian Gardens
A limb came down. Tiles blew off. Water is coming through the ceiling. We get the roof covered so no more water gets in, then we fix the real damage. We keep your floors and yard protected, and we tell you what we find at each step.

Sudden Roof Damage, Handled in Two Steps
Most sudden roof problems need two jobs, not one. First we stop the water. That might mean a tarp strapped over a torn section, a few replaced tiles or a sealed seam. Then, once the roof is dry and we can see the decking, we make the lasting repair.
Splitting it this way keeps you from paying for a rushed fix that fails in the next rain. It also gives you time to call your insurance company and look at the written estimate before anything bigger is decided. We work in English and Spanish.
Winter storms here often come in a series, a dry day or two between rounds. We use those breaks to make a temporary cover tight enough to hold until the permanent work is done.
What the Work Includes
- Temporary cover
- We secure a heavy tarp or patch over the open area and fasten it so wind can't get under it. We avoid nailing through good tiles or shingles where we can.
- Inside check
- With your okay, we look at the ceiling, attic and any wet insulation. We point out what needs drying so mold doesn't start.
- Floor and yard protection
- Drop cloths go down on any floor we walk through. Tarps cover shrubs and planters under the work area, and we keep debris off your lawn.
- Photos of the damage
- We take clear photos before and after the cover goes on. You get copies to use with your insurance claim.
- Permanent repair
- We replace broken tiles or shingles, damaged underlayment, bent flashing and any soft decking. Then we check the area with water before we call it done.
- Cleanup
- Broken tile, loose nails and torn felt get bagged and hauled off. Before the truck pulls out, we sweep the driveway and drag a magnet bar across the grass to catch stray fasteners.
Signs Your Roof Needs Attention Soon
Water dripping indoors
A drip from a light fixture or a wet spot that keeps growing means water is already past the roof. Turn off power to that fixture and put a bucket down.
A branch or debris on the roof
Even a small limb can crack tiles or punch through shingles. Don't climb up to move it. We remove it and check what's underneath.
Missing or slid tiles
Wind can lift clay and concrete tiles and leave the underlayment bare. That felt is not made to take direct rain for long.
Sagging ceiling
A bulge in drywall means water is pooling above it. Keep people out of that room and let us look at it.
Flashing peeled back
Metal around chimneys, vents and walls can bend in high wind. Once it lifts, water runs straight under the roofing.
How a Repair Day Goes
- 1
Your phone call
You tell us what happened and where the water is showing. We give you a straight answer on when we can come out, and we set up a free estimate.
- 2
Look and protect
We walk the roof, check inside and lay down protection on floors and plants before any work starts. We tell whoever is home where we'll be working.
- 3
Stop the water
We put the temporary cover on and photograph everything. You get a written estimate for the permanent repair.
- 4
Make the lasting fix
Once you approve the estimate and the weather allows, we strip the damaged area, repair the decking and underlayment, and put the roofing back.
- 5
Walk-through
We show you the finished work, clean the site and answer questions before we leave.

What Moves the Cost
Every sudden repair is priced after we see it, and you get the numbers in writing before the permanent work starts. The temporary cover and the lasting repair are listed separately so you can see what each one costs.
- Size of the damage
- A few cracked tiles is a small job. A torn section several feet across takes more material and more hours.
- Roof type
- Tile roofs often need matching tiles and careful handling so we don't break the ones around the damage. Shingle and flat roofs go faster.
- What's underneath
- If water has soaked the decking, those boards come out and get replaced. We can't know this for sure until the area is opened.
- Inside damage
- Wet insulation or drywall adds work. We show you what we find so you can decide what to include.
- Access
- Steep pitches, two stories or tight side yards take more setup and protection.
What People Ask After Sudden Roof Damage
Something not covered here? (562) 545-3161
Can I climb up and tarp it myself?
Please don't. A wet roof is slippery, and walking on tile can crack more pieces. Set buckets under the drips, pull furniture out of the way and leave the roof to us.
Does insurance pay for this kind of damage?
Sudden damage from wind or a fallen tree is covered by many policies, though each one reads differently. We work directly with your insurance claim, provide photos and a written estimate, and explain our findings. The adjuster decides what's covered.
Does the tarp fix the roof?
No. The tarp only holds water out for a short stretch. The real repair follows after the roof dries out and you sign off on the estimate.
Can you repair a tile roof?
Yes. Tile is common on homes in Hawaiian Gardens and neighboring towns such as Lakewood and Cerritos, and we fix it as well as shingle and flat roofs. If the damage covers a large area, we'll go over whether a repair or a roof replacement is the better choice.
Can I spread out the cost of the repair?
Yes. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval, and we'll explain it when we hand you the estimate.
