Storm Damage Repair in Hawaiian Gardens

Wind and heavy rain can lift shingles, crack tiles and push water under flashing. We find what the storm did, show you the photos and fix it with your yard and floors protected. You get a written estimate and plain updates from start to finish.

What storm damage repair covers

Storm damage repair is for a roof that was fine before the weather and isn't after. Most of what we see is wind damage. Shingles get creased or torn off. Tiles crack or slide out of place. Ridge caps work loose, and flashing bends back so rain can get behind it. Falling branches and blown debris add punctures and broken gutters.

Storms here usually come in winter, often after months of dry heat that leave shingles brittle and sealant strips weak. That's why a roof that looked fine in October can lose pieces in a January wind. Small damage left alone tends to turn into a leak and wet decking by the next storm.

When the damage is limited, a repair makes sense. When the storm hit a roof that was already worn out, patching may not be worth your money. We say that plainly and walk you through roof replacement as the other option. The choice stays with you.

What the work includes

  1. 01

    Photos of every damaged spot

We walk the roof and photograph what we find, close up and wide. You see the same pictures we do. Keep them for your records or your insurance company.

  2. 02

    Torn or missing shingles

We match shingles as closely as we can by style and color, nail them in the manufacturer's pattern and seal them down. Lifted shingles nearby get resealed so the next wind doesn't finish the job.

  3. 03

    Cracked and slipped tile

Concrete and clay tiles break when someone steps in the wrong place, so we walk only where the tile is supported. Broken pieces get swapped, slipped tiles get reset, and we check the underlayment beneath for tears.

  4. 04

    Flashing, vents and ridge

Bent flashing at walls, chimneys and pipes is reshaped or replaced, then sealed. Loose ridge caps and damaged vent covers are refastened or replaced.

  5. 05

    Decking where water got in

If rain got through, we check the plywood underneath. Soft or delaminated sections are cut out and replaced before new roofing goes on.

  6. 06

    Gutters and downspouts

Wind and branches often pull gutters loose. We rehang or replace damaged runs so water drains away from your walls. Our Gutters page has more on that work.

Signs the storm hurt your roof

  • Pieces in the yard

Shingle tabs, tile chips or bits of metal in the grass or driveway came from somewhere. Usually it's your roof.

  • New ceiling stains

A brown ring or bubbling paint after a rain means water found a way in. The entry point on the roof is often a few feet away from the stain.

  • Lifted or creased shingles

From the street, look for shingle edges sitting up or a straight crease line across a tab. A crease means the seal broke and the shingle folded in the wind.

  • Tiles out of line

Gaps in the rows, crooked tiles or broken corners are easy to spot from the ground. Please don't climb up to check. Tile is slippery and breaks underfoot.

  • Sagging gutters

A gutter hanging off the fascia or a downspout knocked loose tells you wind or a branch hit that edge hard.

How a storm repair job goes

  1. 1

You call, we set a time

Tell us what you noticed. We set a visit time and let you know who's coming.

  2. 2

    Free inspection with photos

We check the roof, the gutters and the attic if we can reach it. Then we sit down with you, go through the photos and hand you a free written estimate.

  3. 3

    Insurance, if you're filing

We work directly with your insurance claim. We share our photos and measurements with the adjuster and can meet them at your home. The adjuster decides coverage, and we explain their paperwork in everyday words.

  4. 4

    Repair day

Before anyone climbs, we tarp shrubs and flower beds, cover walkways and park the trailer where it won't crack your driveway. If we need the attic, we lay floor covers inside first. We tell you when we start, when it gets loud and when we're done.

  5. 5

    Cleanup and walk-through

The crew gathers loose debris by hand, and a rolling magnet goes over the lawn and driveway to catch stray nails. Before we leave, we show you each spot we fixed, with after photos to keep.

What moves the price of a storm repair

We price every storm repair from what we find on your roof, so we don't quote numbers before we look. Your written estimate lists each item so you can see where the money goes and compare it with the adjuster's figures. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.

How much is damaged
Swapping a handful of shingles on one slope can take just a few hours. When wind tore up several sides of the roof, both the material list and the labor grow.
Roof material
Tile takes more time and care to replace than shingles, and some older tile profiles are hard to find. Matching a discontinued shingle can add cost too.
What's under the surface
Wet or rotted decking has to come out, and we only know that once the damaged roofing is off. We show you photos and talk it over before doing any extra work.
Height and pitch
Steep or two-story roofs need more safety setup and slow the work down.
Gutters and extras
Rehanging gutters, replacing vents or rebuilding flashing each adds a line item.

Storm damage questions

Will my insurance pay for storm damage?

That comes down to the wording of your policy and what the adjuster sees on the roof. Damage from wind is covered under a lot of policies, while a roof that's simply old and worn generally is not. We hand the adjuster our photos and measurements, but the coverage call belongs to your insurer. Once their letter arrives, we'll go over it with you line by line.

Do I file a claim before or after you look at the roof?

Many people have us come out first. Our inspection shows whether the storm actually caused damage before anything gets reported to your insurer. If the repair costs less than your deductible, handling it yourself may be the easier route.

Can you match my existing shingles or tiles?

Usually close. We bring samples and hold them up against your roof. If an exact match isn't made anymore, we show you the nearest options before ordering, so nothing goes on your home that you haven't seen.

Do I need to be home while you work?

Not for the outside work, as long as we can get into the yard. We do ask that someone be there at the start, at the final walk-through and any time we need the attic. We keep you posted by phone through the day.

Will the repair stop every leak in my roof?

It fixes what the storm did. If we spot other problems, like worn flashing or old underlayment, we point them out separately and you choose what to do. Our Roof Leak Repair page explains how we track down leaks that aren't storm-related.
