Hawaiian Gardens Tile Roofing
The tile on your roof may last longer than the house. The layer below it doesn't. We repair, relay and install clay and concrete tile roofs, covering your plants and walkways before anyone goes up, and we update you every day on what we find.

What Tile Roof Work Really Means
Most tile roofs don't fail because the tile breaks down. They fail because the underlayment below the tile dries out, cracks and stops shedding water. On a lot of older roofs that layer is felt paper that has had decades of sun and heat cycling through the tile above it.
So a tile job is often three jobs in one. We fix broken or slipped tiles. We replace worn underlayment and flashing. Or we lay a full new tile roof when the old tile is past saving. We tell you which one your roof needs after we've been up there and looked.
Tile is heavy and it breaks if you step wrong. That's why we plan where tile gets stacked, where the crew walks and what gets covered on the ground before work starts.

Tile Roofing Work We Handle
- 01
Replacing cracked and slipped tiles
Broken tiles come out, we check the underlayment under them and set matching pieces. If your profile is hard to source, you hear about it before we order.
- 02
Relaying tile over new underlayment
We remove the tile section by section and stack it safely, replace underlayment and battens where needed, then set your original tile back down. Your home keeps its look with a fresh waterproof layer.
- 03
Ridges, hips and mortar
When mortar cracks at ridges and hips, wind and water get in. We reset or re-point those caps so they seat firmly.
- 04
Valleys and flashing
Valley metal, wall flashing and pipe jacks rust or split well before the tile wears out. We replace them while the tile is off, when it costs the least.
- 05
New clay or concrete tile roofs
If the old tile is brittle or the whole roof needs redoing, we build a new tile roof from the deck up. Moving from shingle to tile? We check the framing first because tile is much heavier.
- 06
Bird stops and eave closures
Gaps at the eave give birds and pests a place to nest under the tile. We seal them off during the job.
Questions about Tile Roofing?
Call(562) 545-3161Signs Your Tile Roof Needs Attention
Stains on the ceiling after winter rain
Tile can look perfect from the street while water runs under it. A brown ring inside usually means the underlayment has given out somewhere.
Cracked or missing tiles
One broken tile exposes the layer under it to sun and rain. Left alone, that small spot gets bigger.
Crumbling mortar on the ridge
If you see chunks of mortar in the gutter or on the ground, the ridge caps are working loose.
Tiles that look shifted or uneven
Rows that wander usually mean broken fasteners or rotted battens. Strong dry winds can move loose tile further.
The roof is 25 years old or more
Even with sound tile, felt underlayment that age is often brittle. A free inspection tells you how much life it has left.
The Steps of a Tile Roof Job
- 1
Free look and a written estimate
We walk the roof, lift some tiles to check the underlayment and take photos. The estimate splits out tile, underlayment, flashing and permit, so you see the costs before work begins.
- 2
Protecting your home first
Shrubs and flower beds get covered and tarps go over walkways and the driveway. We agree with you on where kids and pets should keep away, and you hear each day's plan.
- 3
Remove, repair, reset
We take tile off in sections and stack it where it stays safe. Underlayment, battens and flashing get replaced, then the tile goes back with new pieces where needed.
- 4
Cleanup and final walk
Broken tile and old felt get cleared, a magnet goes over the yard for nails and we rinse away dust. Then we go through the photos and show you the work.
How We Arrive at a Tile Roof Price
Before we quote, we look under the tile, because the price should match what the roof actually needs. Tile, underlayment, flashing and labor each get their own line on the written estimate, so the last bill matches the first. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.
- Swap a few, relay or go new
- Changing out a few tiles doesn't take long. Lifting the whole roof and setting it back on fresh underlayment takes more labor, and buying new tile adds that material cost on top.
- Clay versus concrete
- Each one has its own price, weight and ease of matching. Profiles that are old or no longer made can take longer to find.
- Tiles lost when lifted
- Older tile sometimes breaks when it comes up, no matter how gently it's handled. The more brittle it is, the more pieces get replaced, and you hear our expectation before the job begins.
- Roof layout and steepness
- More hips and valleys and steeper slopes call for extra cutting and flashing, and the crew moves slower to stay safe.
- Wood underneath and city permits
- Any soft boards under the underlayment are swapped out. Larger jobs require a city permit, which we obtain, and we arrange the inspection.
Tile Roof Questions We Hear Often
Will you reuse the tile I already have?
In most cases. Concrete tile, and clay tile in good shape, can usually be set back once the new underlayment is in. We test how brittle your tile is first and give you an idea of how many pieces may have to be swapped.
Won't walking on the roof break tiles?
Most broken tile comes from feet, so our crew only steps where the tile is supported and lays walk boards across weak spots. If we break a tile, we replace it and you don't pay for it.
I have a shingle roof. Is my house strong enough for tile?
Tile weighs several times what shingles do, and some homes need structural changes to hold it. We look at the rafters and framing before we suggest tile, and we tell you straight if the structure needs work.
How messy does a tile job get?
There's dust, old felt and tile fragments, and we plan for all of it. Plants get covered, walkways get tarps, tile is stacked away from the areas you use, and cleanup happens daily instead of only on the last day.
Will you work with my insurance on tile damage?
Yes. We work directly with your insurance claim, take photos of the damage and explain what we found, while the adjuster makes the coverage call. We can do all of this in English or Spanish.
